Staycation!

Earlier in the year Michael and I had made reservations at a B & B on Orcas Island for a little getaway. With us needing to get more conscience of money we decided to just stay closer to home and enjoy the things around us. On Friday night Ga-Ga & Pa came and picked the kids up and Michael and I went out to dinner and a movie. We saw Source Code at the cheap theater in Renton. It was a really good movie!

The next morning we got up and took the Link Light Rail into the Seattle. We thought it was funny that we just saw a movie about an explosion on a train the night before and here we were taking a train.

We did a little shopping at Pacific Place and Westlake Center and then stopped at PF Chang's for an early lunch...so early we were the first customers of the day.

They have a new (to me) option on the menu where you get 4 courses and it was $40....so worth it! That and the kitchen messed up on one of our entrees so they gave us the messed up on and got us a corrected on so instead of two entrees we got 3.

The desserts were super yummy and mini...everything is so cute when it's mini! Michael got The Great Wall of Chocolate and I got the cheesecake.

After eating we got on the monorail and went to the EMP. This was first time visiting the EMP and I remember when it first opened I was thinking I would NEVER go there since I'm not really a musical person, but the fact that it's a seriously ugly building. It is ugly, but at the same time beautiful so I think I'm "getting" it a bit more now.

The exhibits were amazing....Avatar was SO good! It really made me want to see the movie again.

Michael's hand verses an Avatar hand.

After Avatar we headed upstairs to see the Battlestar Galactica exhibit. If you haven't watched the newer Battlestar Galactica series yet you should....I loved it and I'm not a really a sci-fi fan!

Absolutely LOVE this flow chart of how the whole story of the 12 tribes and Cylons played out. It really brought me back to my working days when flow charts were a part of my daily life.

Small scale replica of the Battlestar Galactica.

Captain Apollo's ship....we watched a You Tube video of the setting up of this exhibit and they actually had to cut a doorway bigger in the EMP to get the ships in building. I'm so glad they decided to do that...it was really neat to see them.

Number Six's red dress!

This made us totally crack up....if you know the lingo from the show it will make you laugh too!

When we got out of the EMP it had warmed up quite a bit. Michael had a coupon for buy one get one free for milkshakes at MCD's so we went and got them and then went and sat down and people watched at the fountain.

Later on that night after taking the train home we got 2 movies at the Red Box and did a little shopping at Wal-Mart.

On Sunday morning we went down to the golf course in Kent and play on the 9 hole/par 3 course.

We haven't been golfing in years, but it was so much fun and the weather was perfect for golfing!

As you can see Michael actually got par a couple times. I was getting better towards the end. It's not all that expensive to go so maybe we'll get to go more frequently so we can improve a bit.

After golfing we went to Southcenter, eat at Panera Bread and then went and saw X-Men First Class. That was a really good movie too. As you can probably tell for us food and movies are ways that we really enjoy. It was so nice not having to worry about getting kids dress, washed, fed and entertained for 2 whole days! Ga-Ga & Pa are such a blessing to us!
