A few weeks ago our bedtime routine got harder and harder. The boys were both cranky they didn't want to sit down and pray with us or listen at all. It was making bedtime a very grumpy unhappy time.
So for the last couple days we've tried some new things. We now read from the boys devotional and we let them run around during this time. I know they aren't necessarily focusing on the words, but I know they hear them. After that we pray with them. They really don't like to sit still during this time, but we want them to be respectful...we are praying to the Lord after all.
After that I snuggle Jack and Michael snuggles Owen and then vise versa. The other day I thought up a song to sing to the boys while I snuggle them and it's seemed to help them settle down a bit more. It goes...I wanna snuggle snuggle snuggle snuggle you, I wanna snuggle snuggle snuggle snuggle you...I wanna hold you very tight and kiss you with all my might, I wanna snuggle snuggle snuggle snuggle you! They both love it and want me to sing it over and over again. They have definitely moved into the stalling phase...mama I need a hug...mama I need a kiss...mama I need covered! I'd love to hear what other moms do at your kids bedtime routine.
