Ella hasn't really been interested in food yet, but she's getting closer to 6 months so I thought I would give it a try. I tried giving her mashed up avocado a while back, but she was so not interested I don't even thinks she knew it was in her mouth.
On Saturday I made her cream of wheat. I love cream of wheat, but then again I put a ton of sugar in mine. I didn't do that for hers though!
At first she just liked the fact that she was getting to chew on something new. I don't think it hit her that something was actually on the spoon.
Then she started getting a feel of the food. I don't think it was the taste that bothered her...I think was the texture. Cream of wheat is pretty grainy so it does feel funny on your tongue. Especially when you've never had something that feels like that on your tongue before.

In the end she took 2 bites and then started spitting it out and didn't want to open her mouth so I just let her chew on the spoon for a bit. I just bought her an avocado today and a yam so I'm going to make baby food for her and freeze it so when she is ready I'll have those on hand. In a few days her WIC checks start up so we'll be able to get baby cereal too. I can't believe she's old enough to be eating baby food already!
