After the aquarium we got back in the van and headed to our destination for the night...Coos Bay Oregon. The whole reason for our little family road trip was to head to Coos Bay to honor Michael's Uncle Gil. Uncle Gil had a massive heart attack and died on July 18th.
He was only 72 years young! He left too soon and he will truly be missed!
Aunt Jess and Uncle Gil were married for almost 54 years and at the memorial we all learned one of the cutest things....Uncle Gil would put toothpaste on Aunt Jess' toothbrush for her. I think that's the sweetest thing!
It was wonderful getting to see family and have them see and meet the kids. I will miss Uncle Gil, but at the same time I know that I will see him again. I know that he's in heaven and it makes mourning a whole lot easier!
On Monday after the memorial we hopped in the van and headed home. This time we didn't take the leisure way home. We took I-5 and almost drove straight through. We stopped for dinner in Salem and ate at a park so the kids could run around. Then we made one more stop at Wal-Mart for one last potty break and to reward the kids with a new movie for the last leg of the trip. We ended up pulling into the house at 10pm.
It was such a fun little road trip and it gave me a taste of what's to come next year when we drive to Disneyland.
