A couple weeks ago I got a FB message from a friend asking if I could make pajama pants. As I was messaging her I started searching on Pinterest and saw that it actually wasn't that hard at all to make them. So I figured why not. Their family likes to have matching jammie pictures and as the kids have gotten bigger it's been really hard to find matching ones. A few days later we met up at Joann's to look at fabric. They found just the right fabric so we went back to my house to make the pattern and start cutting.
To make the pattern you lay a pair of pants that fit the person on a piece of wrapping paper and trace around the pants with about a 1/2 extra on the sides for sewing and then 2 inches at the waist and hem. Then you fold the fabric in half, pin the pattern and cut around it.
After cutting out two panels for the pants you turn the fabric so the right sides are facing, pin them together and sew from the hem up to the crotch.
Once the sides are sewn you turn one leg where the right side is out and stuff it into the other leg that's inside out. Then line up the seams for the crotch, pin and sew.
After that you do the hem and then the waist with elastic. From start to finish it took me 2 hours to do the first one. I ended up making 6 pairs of pants for them. It was a lot of work, but it was fun! To view the tutorial I used click here.
