Shopping!

One of my personal goals this year was to update my wardrobe. Earlier this year I contacted my friend Kristen to see if she would like to go shopping with me. You know that saying if you want to do something find someone that does it well and learn from them. I love Kristen's style and I had known from chatting with her that she was a pretty savvy shopper. In accordance with Financial Peace University teaching I needed to save up the money. We allocate money every month for clothes so I save that for two months and set aside some of my personal money. I came up with $90 to spend. That seemed like a bunch to me, but then I started thinking realistically and knew I wasn't going to get that much for that little.

Kristen and I met on Saturday morning at Kohl's a store that she loves to shop at. I had never really gone there, but she said they had a great clearance section. Boy was she right! We also went over to Plato's Closet another store I'd never been to before. There clearance section was ridiculous...jeans for $2.50 and shoes for $1!!!

At Kohl's I ended up getting a pair of skinny jeans (the ones on the left) and the 3 shirts in the above picture. The other pair of jeans I got at Plato's closet for $2.50!

I also go this red tank top...it has a design on it you just can't tell in the picture...at Kohl's. The pink shirt I found at Plato's closet for $8.

These awesome sweaters were also found at Kohl's...

As well as these shoes!

In all I only spent $65 (Kristen gave me $10 Kohl's cash) at Kohl's on - 1 pair of jeans, 4 shirts, 2 sweaters and a pair of shoes. On the receipt it showed that I saved over $200!!! Plus I got $10 in Kohl's cash to spend at a later time.
At Plato's Closet I spent $11 on - 1 pair of jeans and one shirt.

I didn't even spend all my money! Who would have thought that I could have gotten 10 things for under $90! As well as getting good deals it was so wonderful to spend time with my friend. I told her I felt like the people in What Not To Wear, but she was most definitely nicer than Stacy London! Thank you Kristen for being my fashion guru and for introducing me to two new stores!

  1. Have you ever thought about extreme couponing? Only it doesn't have to be about groceries. I saw them do it about school clothes for kids for a year, toys for the next christmas, etc etc by watching for sales AND using coupons AND whatever else. I don't think I could ever be successful at it, it seems so complicated but I think you could do it if you put your mind to it.
