New Year's Resolution?

I've never been one to make a New Year's Resolution so I didn't start this time around, but I have made a conscience choice to start watching less TV and read more. So far since I decided this (a couple of weeks before the end of the year) I have finished reading - Bringing up Boys by Dr. James Dobson.

I'm currently reading...

Heaven by Randy Alcorn with Michael. This is the same book we were reading together after my Grandpa died in October. We just took a little break from it and are now back at it. I would still highly recommend this book.

The New Dare to Discipline by Dr. James Dobson

I'm not planning on reading all self help or Christian books the next ones on my list are...

Mortal Danger by Ann Rule
The Choice by Nicholas Sparks
The first two books in the Twilight Series
The Strong Willed Child by Dr. James Dobson

I guess I really like Dr. Dobson!!! If there are any books that I should definitely add to my list let me know. I'm going to keep track of the ones I read on my sidebar and hopefully by the end of the year it will be a pretty long list.

  1. You should totally read "Water For Elephants." It was one of the first books I read when I started reading again (sounds weird to say that-- but I went for years without reading ANYthing merely for pleasure!), and it was totally worth it. I don't have it since I borrowed someone else's copy, but you can probably get it from the library. it is soooooooooo good!!!

  2. How can you turn your back on television after all it's given to society?

That being said, I just started reading How I Conquered Your Planet by John Swartzwelder. So far so good on that one. I would also recommend Kingdom of the Cults by Dr. Walter Martin. Since you've got the same name, that one should be a legal requirement.

  3. Good job! A couple of years ago I took the initiative to start reading more. My first year (2007) I read 37 books and last year I only got through 29. I slowed down during the fall. I haven't started one yet this year and I doubt I'll have the time to get through as many as I want to. We'll see though!
