First Official Day Of School 2024 & My 44th Birthday!

We actually started school on August 19th, but I was only having the kids work on Math & English. After Michael and I got back from our Maui trip we officially started school on my birthday, September 16th.

Check out the year on his shirt! Last time he ever has to put it on!!!

And just for fun let's go down memory lane!

2011 - Pre-K!

We met at Miss Kim's for school on Mondays & Fridays.

2012 - Kindergarten

We still met at Miss Kim's on Mondays and Fridays, but Owen also did Phonics during the week at home.

2013 - 1st Grade

Such a hard decision to send Owen to public school, but it was the right choice at the time.

2014 - 2nd Grade

2015 - 3rd Grade

2016 - 4th Grade

2017 - 5th Grade

2018 - 6th Grade

2019 - 7th Grade

Last year at public school!

2020 - 8th Grade

First year of homeschool!

2021 - 9th Grade

2022 - 10th Grade

2023 - 11th Grade

2024 - 12th Grade

My oldest is graduating this year!!!

Owen has worked so hard trying to catch up so he can graduate on time. His last year isn't going to be easy, but it's definitely doable. I know he's going to do great and I'm so excited to see what God has in store for him as he closes out this chapter and steps into a new one.

Jack - 11th Grade

Jack is on track to have another easy year. It's so interesting how certain things can just be easier for some and harder for others. For Jack school just comes easy! He's is most definitely the best at self-motivation. He absolutely hates to working past lunch and will do everything in his power to be finished before 11:30am everyday.

Next year will be his final year!

Ella - 8th grade

Ella is in her last year of middle school. Ella was originally going to graduate in 2028, but due to her having to retake Kindergarten her graduation date got pushed back a year. Her plan over the next 4 years is to shave off a quarter of a year each year and graduate with her original class in 2028.

I know if anyone can accomplish this goal it's Ella Grace. She is the most determined, hardest worker I know. She mentioned this goal to me during the summer and I told her that I was willing to go for this with her, but she was basically giving me permission to push her and keep her accountable to her goal. She agreed and there have been days she's wanted to not do as much and we've adjusted things around a little bit, but there have also been days where I have to remind her that tough things come through hard work and perseverance and she usually just gets right back to work.

She's a Rockstar!

Zeke - 7th Grade

This kiddo is ready for a new year!

One of the biggest changes for him this year has been the addition of Miss Katelynn. Miss Katelynn is Zeke's therapist that comes to our house almost everyday from 9am - 1pm. She is really helping him cope and learn new methods to help him thrive. She's been such a blessing to our whole family and I already feel like this is going to be his best year ever!!!

It's so crazy to think in 5 more school years we will be ending our homeschool journey. It's really not all that long and will be here before I know it. This time with my kids has been filled with every gamete of emotions you can think of, but mostly it's been filled with time. Time that I get to be with them, learning with them, laughing with them, getting frustrated with them or at them. It has not been all fun and games, but it's been time with them! Time is such a thief and I'm so glad that back in 2020 we made the decision to not let time getting away from us anymore. Even though there has been frustrations and times when I thought I might lose my mind, I've still never waivered about keeping them home with me. It's been a gift I will always cherish!

Even though they're too old for the buddy system we still do buddy pictures!

I love them to pieces!

Goofballs that they are!

They'll always be my babies even when they all are eventually taller than me!

We're so special!

Our school mascot!

Later that night we celebrated my birthday. Michael got me these cute fuzzy socks I can wear while I'm reading that basically tell the kids to leave me alone in a nice way. He also got me my Wifey tumbler....I love it!

The kids got me 2 shirts and my favorite salted caramel chocolates.

It's was a great first day of school and a very Happy Birthday to me!
