Christmas Eve morning was when I planned to do all my baking. I like fresh cookies so there really wasn't a way for me to get my baking done earlier. I decided to make 4 different kinds so I would get individual time with each of the kiddos.
I told the kids that I'd basically be in the kitchen all day so we needed to start early. I asked who wanted to help me first and Zeke said he would. I told him he needed to be up and ready around 7:30am, but in reality I think we got started closer to 8am.
He and I made chocolate chip cookies. Not very Christmasy, but we don't make chocolate chip cookies very often....we usually just eat the dough.
Which we did go ahead and do that as well. Cookie Dough for breakfast anyone?!?!
Ella was up next...she wanted to make sugar cookies.
Taste testing chocolate chip cookies. The cookies looked a bit funny....I think I needed to add more flour, but they tasted good so that's all that matters.
I know we could have rolled out the dough and then used cookie cutters to make cute shapes, but Mama just doesn't have time for that so round sugar cookies it is!
Jackson really wanted to make Molasses cookies with me. I had never made molasses cookies, but the recipe looked so yummy.
Michael said we should have tried to make them look like Moles Asses and we could have even put a chocolate chip between the ass cheeks. No babe...just no!!!
Making these cookies took some time so while the dough was being refrigerated Ella and I were frosting the sugar cookies.
These turned out so amazing and they were so nice and chewy! Definitely will be making them again.
Owen was dying for a good Snickerdoodle.
I've made Snickerdoodles in the past, but you have to underbake them and that is so hard for me to do so they ended up being hard little hockey pucks. Owen and I were determined to follow the recipe exactly as it said and they turned out so good! A couple of them were just a little too underdone because they were thicker than the other cookies, but that's okay.
After all that baking I also had to make Green Bean Casserole to take with me the next day for Christmas Dinner. It ended up being over 6 hours in the kitchen. I did take breaks and work on my Christmas puzzles and also watched a bit of TV with the kids. They were watching a marathon of Hallmark type Christmas Movies....specifically ones with Mario Lopez in them. We also watched Disney's Zombies movies because it's tradition to watch it on Christmas Eve...weird I know!
Michael got home from work about 2:30pm and he wasn't feeling well at all. He ended up staying home from Christmas Eve service while the kids and I went.
Had to take Christmas Tree Pictures!
I wish I had gotten a better picture of Ella's dress. This is the other dress she found at TJ Maxx when we went shopping right before the Christmas Dinner. It's a sleeveless and it's a really pretty rusty red color.
Another year of my Christmas Babies!
I bought matching Christmas jammies for all of us this year. Ella and I both have shirts that say Follow the Magic. I couldn't find shirts for the boys that I liked so I just ended up getting them plain grey long sleeve shirts from Walmart.
