Random Stuff From October 2025

Random stuff from October 2025!

On October 3rd, Ella drove for the first time with only me in the van. She'd driven with all of us in the van before just not with me by myself. In all honesty though she only drove with me by herself a few times. She and I have a hard time together especially when it comes to learning things. I get it...I'm her teacher all the time so me giving her feedback, particularly in a stressful situation, just isn't a good mixture. She did much better driving with her Dad and she is a very good driver.

On October 5th, the SNL (Sunday Night Life) group met at our house. We were waiting for a few more people to get there so to pass the time the kids started playing Heads Up.

It's always fun to see how animated everyone gets playing this game.

Charlie is not a snuggly kitty during the summer at all. So once fall gets here, we're just waiting for what we call 'winter kitty' to show up and start snuggling with us. October 14th....winter kitty has arrived!

Zeke sits over next to me every time he has a spelling test. In order to keep things lively for him I don't do the spelling test in order...I jump around all over the place. It just a little trick that I use to keep him engaged.

For some reason Charlie decided that he likes sitting on the desk behind the two monitors. He's such a silly kitty.

On Wednesday, October 22nd our youth group attended a Collab Night at Highline Christian Church in Burien. It's the same church that Ella's friend June goes to so they got to see each other for a bit. I wish I had gotten a pictures of them together!

On Friday, October 24th, Michael and I went out on a date night to see the movie Regretting You. I've read the book so it was fun to see the movie. They did a really good job sticking to the book. Unlike It Ends With Us where Michael was one of the only guys in the theater there were way more guys at this one and Michael actually liked it. We ate dinner at Red Robin before going to the mall and getting ice cream and then we had popcorn at the theater....we sure know how to have a good time! :)

On Saturday, October 25th, a few of us from our youth group volunteered to help feed the homeless down in Kent. It was definitely a bit intimidating at first, but once you realize that there people who just need to be seen and they're hungry...it's totally fine. Our group was under the canopy that's behind us in this picture. We stood in a line and handed out all sorts of yummy stuff like donuts, cookies, crackers and soda. The family that puts this on comes to this location every Saturday with lots of other volunteers. Some of which are people that used to be homeless themselves. They are an amazing bunch of people that just want to love on people by feeding their bodies and also feeding their souls. I for sure want to go back again to volunteer another time.

Once the basement got basically finished the couch these two shared in the garage when they hung out was moved to the basement. We did have these two recliners that we moved into the garage over by the gaming station, but we figured that their snuggling days were over since we told them they couldn't both share one recliner. These kids are creative though. They have the recliners face each other and then they use the arm of the recliner as a head rest and dangle their feet over the other arm rest. Clever clever! Not that we think their snuggling is wrong...we have had to address the way they were sitting a couple times, but not for anything major. I do really like the location of the chairs now...you can look out into the garage and clearly see them. The couch used to be around the corner so you had to go out there to check on them. They are very respectful of our wishes though and even when we do have to correct them they don't argue about it. Now that it's getting colder though I doubt the garage will be a place they hang out as often as they did before.

More napping between the monitors!

On Wednesday, October 29th, we had Autumn Jam at youth group. We had hot dogs, chili, cornbread, cookies and ice cream for the kids to eat. We also had a long list of Christian songs to choose from for them to do Karaoke. It was so fun! I was honestly so surprised by how many kids signed up to sing. I was sure it was going to be much harder to get them to participate, but so many of them wanted too. In fact I bet we'll have another Karaoke night since everyone had so much fun!

One day we couldn't find Charlie at all and then I went up to my closet and there he was laying right in front of my clothes. He has never laid there before. Silly kitty!
