Copalis River Camping Trip!

Every summer since we bought our tent trailer we go camping with the Kuch's. We like trying new places out every year. We decided to head to the coast again this summer. We stayed just a bit north of Ocean Shores at Copalis River RV Resort. We were there from Friday, August 13th until Monday, August 16th.

I'm so terrible about take pictures of our campsite...Christina took this picture of the backside of our tent trailer!

This is their set up! We were right next to each other and had this huge space in between us that was all ours.

Hanging out around the fire! We asked the lady at the office if their was a burn ban and she said technically yes, but that they weren't going to be the fire police...we just needed to make sure we kept the fire low. In all honestly it was wet out there. Everything was nice and green and damp most of the weekend so we weren't worried at all. We did make sure we didn't have a raging fire though!

What's camping without a fire to roast marshmallows!

These kids are living their best lives!

The kids got Michael one of those grilled cheese makers so he tried using it for making a s'more and worked really well.

Yum Yum!

Owen brought all his Angry Bird set up stuff so he had fun time creating all sorts of set ups.

Hammocks are so fun!

The girls had fun coloring. Since we had this nice big open area between the campsites we moved both picnic tables together and then used our EZ UP to cover them. It worked out so nice! We always had a nice dry place to sit and eat or play.

Every time we've gone camping we always buy a couple flats of water bottles from Costco. We always end up with half empty water bottles all over the campsite. This time around we decided to use the big water dispenser we used for Mom and Dad's Anniversary party. Mom just bought 6 or so gallons of water and we filled up the dispenser. We had everyone bring their own reusable water bottles and refill those. No wondering who's water was who's.

Just down the way from our campsites we were able to walk out to the Copalis River!

The first day we were there it was pretty nice out!

The rest of the trip it pretty much looked like this! Like I said....very damp!

Damp or not these kids had a fantastic time!

Ella kills me with wearing shorts! I would freeze!

We've got the cooking down pretty good for camping. We always provide breakfast for us and Mom & Dad. Bill & Christina do breakfast for their family. Mom brings all the food for lunches for everyone....sandwiches, fruit and snack stuff. We did hot dogs around the fire for dinner the first night and then Bill & Christina cooked dinner one night for everyone and then we cook one night for everyone. It's a well oiled machine!

Like I said before it was damp! A couple of the kids left their shoes outside the trailer and woke up to them being soaked. Ga-Ga and Pa had brought their hairdryers so Ga-Ga spent a bunch of time drying shoes!

Ga-Ga's other job while camping is to help with the dishes. She's always so good at pitching in and helping!

The set up under the EZ UP was perfect for playing games!

These girls are such cuties...they love to run around exploring nature!

Uncle Ry & Aunt Stephie were in Ocean Shores at her parents vacation house so we made plans to meet up with them in town to get ice cream.

There was a convention going on in Ocean Shores so it was crazy busy! We drove down to the beach and it was like a parking lot! I have never seen Ocean Shores that busy. It was not fun looking at all. We decided that we'd just go to a beach north of the campground.

The Kuch's had brought a kite so Caleb was flying that. The kids had a great time playing in this little river that flowed into the ocean.

Us adults were smart and brought camp chairs to sit in.

Christina and I actually left for a bit and headed north to Seabrook. She hadn't been there since 2015 when we all rented a house and stayed together for my 35th birthday. We stayed there with Ga-Ga & Pa in 2017, but SO much had changed! It's a much bigger community now! I was busy trying to navigate the small streets in a big ol' truck so no pictures!

This boy sure is Awesome!

Of course you can't go to the ocean and not get in the water!

Anna was so cute....she was so busy just digging and digging this big hole. From where we were sitting she was starting to disappear into the sand! :)

Ga-Ga & Pa showed up right when we were starting to think about going back to the campground. We ended up stayed for a bit longer! This trip was actually the last time we were going to see Ga-Ga & Pa since they were leaving on a 7 week road trip after this.

When it was time to leave Owen wanted to drive the truck on the beach. He had so much fun! In fact the morning that we left for home, Michael took him out for a drive prior to hooking up the tent trailer!

It's crazy to me that next year he will actually be able to get his permit and start driving! Ahhh!!!

So much yummy food and good conversation was had around this picnic tables!

Out on one of the walking trails Christina came across this rope swing. It was a total hit. The kids were all lined up for a turn!

Cute Kuch kids! Ella looks annoyed in the background! Hahahaha!

Bill helped the kids get on the rope swing.

Even us grown ups had to get in on the fun. Christina is squealing here! :)

Bill is a big ol' kid! :)

Bill stood by the tree truck to make sure none of the kids ran into it.

Up up and away Jackson!

Leave it to Addison to be an aerialist!

The kids went back to the rope swing over and over again. So much in fact they were sore from using all their muscles. They had us come back a couple of times to see all their cool and daring moves!

The dinner we made for everyone was Teriyaki Chicken Sliders...it's one of our favorite camping meals!

Happy Campers!

At one point Christina wasn't feeling the best so she laid down in the hammock. She said she'd never actually used it before. It was just what she needed. She took a little nap and woke up feeling better.

In years past we've camped with Kuch's at McMinnville OR, Girbaldi OR, Deception Pass WA and Long Beach WA and now at Copalis River WA.  Every year it seems like wherever we stay it just gets better and better. This campground was so amazing for rest and relaxation. We only left the campground that one time to go to Ocean Shores. Well, Mom and I went back to Ocean Shores to do some shopping, but as a whole group we only went out that one time. It was SO incredibly nice to be able to just stay put, veg, let the kids explore nature and have fun. The rope swing was a total hit and kept them busy for hours. There was also a clubhouse that had a foose ball table in it and that the kids enjoyed playing with. The above picture is the new bathhouse. It has 4 nice shower rooms where everything you need is right in the one room that you can lock and have all to yourself.

One of the long term campers makes these cute cedar birdhouses. He actually sets one out everyday for anyone to take. He just asks for donations. The first time we drove by someone had already taken one for the day, but the next time we drove pass there was one there so I grabbed it.

The grounds were very well kept and you can tell they have more projects planned for the future...in fact the office lady said they were going to be building a new clubhouse soon. I don't know if we'll return to camp here again....we want to keep exploring more places, but if we did decide to come back again I know that no one would be sad about it!
