PE Hours AKA Hiking!

Once the kids reach high school we have to account for PE hours for the year. This school year I have to keep track of PE hours for both Owen & Jack. That was one of the main reasons we started back at Taekwondo earlier this year. It gives us 1 hour of dedicated PE time each week. The boys have to complete 72 hours each school year which means they need to complete on average 2 hours a week. So it's nice that half of their PE time is already taken care of with just have one activity! The other PE time is usually divided up between hiking, swimming and jumping on the trampoline.

Since we were starting school on August 17th the weather was still super amazing so I wanted to get out and take advantage of that as much as we could. After the first day of school was finished we headed out to go hiking at Saltwater State Park. Poor Ella had a migraine so she stayed home that afternoon.

What a difference a year has made in regards to our hiking adventures. This time last year I started taking the kids on hikes to get them ready for our upcoming National Park Road Trip and boy was that a trying time. Thankfully we've fallen into a pretty good rhythm. Of course Ella wasn't with us on this trip and it's usually her and Jack that get frustrated with each other....usually about who should be in the lead!

The start of the day was rough for Owen and I, but thankfully we had some fantastic real life talks on the trail and it ended up being a really good day.

Zeke decide to go across the bridge on the outside instead of the inside!

Handsome guys!

My sweet boy!

After the hike we were still 12 minutes short of exercising for an hour so we walked down to the beach trail and found a plethora of blackberries. I knew that we would have to go hiking again the next day if Ella was feeling better so she could enjoy the berries too!

So the next day we came back!

Thankfully Ella Grace was feeling better so off we went on another hike. This time we decided to do the trail the opposite way that we normally hike it just to mix things up a bit.

This bench said...Ella was here, but my Ella didn't carve that! :)

There was this little outcropping area the kids and I hiked to off the path and they wanted me to take their picture from the other side of the trail. You can barely see Ella's orange shirt in the middle of the green forrest!

Here they are zooming WAY in!

Of course we did have some issues in regards to who should lead so....for some of the journey I got to be the leader instead!

After the hike we went down the beach so we could eat some more of the yummy berries! It was nice to kickstart the school year with 2 hours of PE already under our belts just in the first two days!
