Not Me Monday!

This Not Me Monday will include things that have happened in the last two weeks since there wasn't a Not Me Monday post last week. Head over to MckMama's to join in the carnival.

1. Two Sunday's ago I did not set a burning flame in front of my one year and just assume he wouldn't reach for it. I would not be crazy enough to do that. (FYI...I reviewed the tape and Jack did NOT (seriously) get a hold of the flame. I blew it out before he touched it)

2. I did not let my boys consume a soft pretzel, wheat thins, a pop tart and a cheese stick for dinner because we were at the mall and that's all I had on hand and I had a coupon for the pretzel. We always eat food from all the food groups.

3. This last week I did not say to Owen, "No you don't push mama's ding dong you can push your ding dong though", and then think....hmmm that sounds bad! (I was referring to the doorbell. He wants to push our doorbell over and over, but he has a doorbell on his playhouse that I'd rather he push.)

4. I also did not have to explain to Owen that we don't kiss poo poo, after telling him to say bye bye to his poo poo when we were going to flush the toilet.

5. Jack is definitely not toddling around the entire house after only just taking his first steps a few days ago. He was not faking that he couldn't walk for weeks now.

6. I have not hit my left big toenail so many times in the last 2 weeks that the nail is halfway ripped off. I'm not in pain every time my boys step on or touch it. I do not wish I could just rip it off and get it over with.

7. I did not actually post a picture of the victorious end of a moles reign against our lawn. I would never post picture of anything dead on my blog...that's just weird.

What have you not done lately?

Sprinkle Time

According to the news we've had 25 consecutive days of no rain so we decided it was time to give the lawn a drink. We set the sprinkler up and asked Owen if he wanted to run through it. I didn't really think he would want to, but he was really excited about it.
He paused for a moment and then...

ran right out there!

Brrrr! The water from the hose is COLD!

Daddy started jumping over the sprinkler show Owen what to do.

Owen got little timid about that so he took a breather.

Then he asked Daddy to hold him and jump through the water.

He absolutely loved it! He was laughing so hard. I'm sure we'll be doing this a lot this summer.

Show Us Where You Live Friday

This week Kelly asked us to show off our bathrooms.

Since we've remodeled our entire house I always like to show before pictures.

This is our half bath that's on the first floor. It has ugly old linoleum, wallpaper and and an old vanity.

Here are the after pictures. I've always wanted a pedestal sink.

We redid everything! The only things we kept were the toilet and the brown cabinet doors. The lower portion of the cabinet is actually a laundry chute that originates in the master bedroom. I don't use it as a laundry chute though...I store our Costco sized TP and paper towels in there instead.

This is what our master bathroom looked like before we remodeled it. It was a hallway from our bedroom. At the end was a sink. On the right is our huge walk in closet.

This is what was the on left. This little tiny room with a toilet, sink and one person shower.

Here's a picture of Michael ripped out the wall where the shower is.

Bye bye wall!

After....gorgeous! The tub is where the shower used to be. There was wasted space behind the wall so we were able to get a two person tub.

We kept the sink that was in the tiny bathroom where it was and toilet is in the same place too. The sink that was at the end of the hallway we turned into a 4ft shower with doors.

Here's a partial shot of our closet. I went online and had Lowe's design our closet for us for free. Then I just went down and bought all the parts and put them together myself. I love how organized it is.
We also have another full bath upstairs, but I only have before pictures of it.

The Box

So after putting the kitchen together I decided to leave the box in the living room because I knew it was probably going to be as big or even a bigger hit than the kitchen itself.

After we had been in there for awhile the boys realized they could use me as toy so they started crawling over my legs to get out of the box and then...

Turning around and crawling right back in!

Silly boys!

Picnic & Playtime

Yesterday we decided to head out to Des Moines Beach Park to hang out with some other moms from my MOPS group. It's a nice place to have a picnic, but there isn't any play equipment so the kids just ran around.

Jack refuses to wear the new orange sunhat I got him. It doesn't have a strap on it like his blue one so he can easily take it off. Don't worry I squirted a bunch of sunscreen on that cute white head.

Here's my awesomely hilarious pal Lori.

This is my friend Carmen....she doesn't go to MOPS yet, but I think she's going to come when we start back up in September.

This is one of my other MOPS friends...Ruth and her youngest daughter Leah.

There was a little stream outlet near the picnic area so the kids had fun climbing on the rocks and looking at...

baby duckies! So cute!

Izze and Owen...future mates...at least Lori and I hope so. They would make the cutest kids EVER. Lori and I both agree that Izze would be the dominate one in the relationship. She literally pulled Owen over so I could take this picture.

Ruth needed to go to a funeral so after lunch we ended up coming back to her house and watching her kids and letting our kids play with all her kids toys. My oh my there were a lot of them. She could seriously have a daycare. It was a kids paradise!

Whoever thought of putting that tall handle on the back of these was a genius. It was so nice to not have to kill by back pushing Jack around.

Owen going up to the clubhouse using the more challenging ladder.

This slide was awesome...it wasn't steep, but it was longer than most slides.

Carmen catching Jack.

Move over Captain Jack Sparrow...it's time for Captain Jack Martin to take the helm.

Alysha is joining in on the fun.

Owen is still really timid when it comes to swinging. He likes to sit on the big kids swings, but he doesn't like it when it tickles his tummy so I just push him gently.

Jack on the other hand likes to go high!

It was so much fun hanging out with the girls and all the kids. Can't wait for our next MOPS outing.

Jack's Walking...a lot!

We've been holding Jack's hands and walking around for awhile now. He barely holds on though. Also once he started walking with his new grocery cart we knew he could totally walk on his own. He was just refusing to do so. Tonight Michael was working with him and he didn't just take his first few steps...Jack seriously took about 75 steps tonight. Not in a row, but we just kept setting him down and he just kept walking. He was catching himself and correct his balance when he was about to fall too. I think the most steps he took at one time was about 7 or 8. I'm so excited for Jack to explore his world from a vertical stand point.

All Aboard!

Yesterday Michael worked late so after nap time I decided it would be a good idea to get out of the house. We stopped at a shoe repair shop and then headed to the mall. Surprisingly the train which is normally super busy didn't have anyone playing on it. I was so excited for the boys.
Right after we showed up so did another girl, but the whole time we were there it really wasn't that busy. I think it has something to do with us being there around dinnertime.

Owen was so happy! He's wanted to play on the "toot toot" for so long!

Jack wanted to be a big boy.

I love how this picture turned out all distorted.

Who's gonna get to the top first?

Weeeeeee!!

Owen was having a crazy good time running around, climbing up the slide, pushing Jack down the slide and talking up a storm. I love seeing him outside the normal everyday situations.

I see you!

Last slide...time to go! Owen was really good and listened to me when I said it was time to go...no fussing and no fits. I was very proud of my big boy. Of course it might have had something to do with the fact that he was hungry and he knew we were going to get a pretzel. No, no it couldn't be....I have a perfectly well mannered toddler. Yeah that's it! :)
