Road Trip - Oregon Coast Aquarium!

We stayed the night in Tillamook and then headed out for our next destination. We knew were we were going to stay that night, but we didn't know exactly where we wanted to stop for some fun for the day. Then we kept seeing all these signs for the Oregon Coast Aquarium and we thought it must be a big deal.

Getting ready to head in the aquarium! When Michael first mentioned stopping at the aquarium I wasn't super thrilled. I've been to the Seattle Aquarium...years ago...and it wasn't all that good. Maybe it's better now, but I didn't have high hopes. Also the price was a bit ridiculous. For the 5 of us it was $73 to get in!

I don't know about you, but it seems it's the simple things like big rocks that bring the most joy!

Love this action shot!

They had a couple different tanks with seals, sea lions and otters. This particular sea lion loved rubbing up against the glass. Ella was so excited...she just kept trying to kiss him through the glass.

He would just sit there and then go above the water for a breath and then right back down. So cute!

We got to see an octopus!

This was a bird area....the kids thought it stunk because of all the bird doo doo!

It's hard to tell, but Jack is looking at a case with a Japanese Spider Crab. When full grown their legs can span up to 30 ft! He was pretty freaky looking, but I bet he would taste fantastic!!! ;)

Ella checking out a beaver dam!

Someone was nice enough to take our picture!

This area was the kids favorite! There was a boat you could drive, fishing poles to catch fish with and a conveyor belt to pull the fish on.

There was also a market place to buy your fish. I'm pretty sure the kids could have stay in this section all day.

After this the kids got to touch some starfish and sea anemones. Then we went back to the sea lion area to watch them get fed, but the kids were bored with waiting so we headed to the under water section. There we got to see sharks, sting rays, Halibut and all sorts of other fish.

Michael noticed there was an outdoor play area for the kids so we wandered over there before heading out.

By this time I had been wearing Zeke for almost 2 hours and he was ready to get out. He did really good though being worn. It seemed like this whole trip he spent being strapped into something!

Turtle Turtle!

After playing on the animals for a while the kids wanted to play hide and seek so I counted and then found Owen and Ella pretty quickly. Jack on the other hand climbed up into the shrubs and found a good hiding spot. We ended up having to yell out his name so he'd come out!

Silly goof balls!

I would have to say that the aquarium exceeded my expectations. We were there for almost 2 hours and the kids had a blast. It was a great place to stretch our legs and have some fun. Although I still think that $73 was a bit ridiculous!
