Trip To Leavenworth

Early on Saturday morning (okay early for parents with two kids...we left at 8:30) we headed out to Leavenworth for the day. The weather wasn't looking too nice, but we figured it would clear up on the other side of the Cascades.

Michael got to do the driving on the way over...you'll see why!

The boys were both a little out of sorts since we just got them up, dressed and put them in the car to eat breakfast. That's not something that normally happens so they were trying to figure out what in world was happening.

This is why Michael drove....this special edition of People hit the newsstands on Friday so we stopped at Fred Meyer before we left so I could get a copy. I'm such a dorky fan!

We got to Leavenworth around 10:30....we got an amazing parking spot for it being the last weekend of Oktoberfest. I was so happy! We did a little shopping and then we set out to find the horses that has went by us a little while before and we happened to be on the main street when the parade started. I use the term parade loosely...because it was like 5 horse drawn wagons...that's it! It was cute though and Owen loved seeing the animals.

Jack got a nice view from up high!

Tiny horse!

This wagon was the prettiest, but also the stinkiest....horse poop...ewww!!! After the parade we headed out in search of a good place to eat lunch. We went to this Inn that had a bunch of American food, but it was packed and no one had been served their food yet so it was going to be a while before a table opened up so we went to another restaurant and looked at their menu, but when I saw it was all German food we walked out. Yeah, yeah I know who goes to Leavenworth and doesn't eat German food! Well we ended up eating at a restaurant called The South....I love Mexican food! Mmmmmm

After eating we got in the car and drove down the road a bit to one of my favorite places...Smallwood Harvest. I love getting there marinated mushrooms and there fruit flavored syrups. I also picked up some honey crisp apples.

While I was shopping the boys were all hanging out by the fire petting the store cat. She loved all the attention she got from Owen, but a couple people were a little aggressive with her and Michael said she wasn't afraid to show her disapproval. She was really sweet with Owen though.

Once I paid for out stuff we headed out to....

The petting farm! It's so funny how things like this catch your attention once you have kids. It was so much fun...even though by this time it has started raining pretty good.

My handsome man!

We got to see a bunch of animals...most were in their pens, but there was one loose llama that was particularly fond of Jack. I didn't notice that Jack had a tiny bit of a Wheat Thin in his hand, but boy that llama sure knew and he wanted it so he came after it. Poor Jack was so freaked out...he just started screaming NOOOOOOO! We stayed away from the llamas after that.

This cute potbelly pig had the right idea....it was definitely a good day for a nap.

Owen loved the animals and wasn't afraid of them at all. We didn't have any change to buy the food to feed them, but Owen just picked up the little pieces that were already on the ground and tried to feed them.
After visiting the animals we headed over to the Antique Mall in Cashmere and looked around. Owen found a firetruck and Jack got a book with Grover. On our way home we got caught in a super heavy downpour where I couldn't even see with the windshield wipers on full blast. It was crazy!!! Thankfully the boys both slept a little on the way home so that was nice. We seriously have kids that can hold out for super long. On the way over Jack didn't fall asleep until Cle Elm and then he only slept for 20 mins or so. We stopped at Factoria Mall, had dinner and let the boys run around for a bit. We ended up getting home after 7pm and we were totally exhausted...it was a full day of fun though!
